Club Runs 16th August 2015

Cat 5 run led by John F
10 Wheelers rolled out of Ware for our occasional trip to Hinxworth via Wadesmill, Dane End, Great Munden, Wood End, Cromer, Weston, Clothall, Bird Hill, Baldock, Bygrave, Ashwell to find Farrowby Farm rather full of other cyclists and family groups. Nevertheless we were provided with food and drink fairly quickly whilst sitting outside on a very pleasant day. For the return leg we retraced our outward route back to Ashwell and then to Slip End, Sandon, Mill End, Buntingford, Westmill, Cherry Green, Great Munden, Old Hall Green, Colliers End, Barwick Ford back to Ware. 60 miles - 5 more miles than published but at no extra charge. No punctures or mechanicals apart from Capt. Bob unshipping his chain.
Cat 6 ride led by Wendy M
It has finally dried up after two miserable soggy days, and 10 riders turned up at Hertford for the cat 6 ride to Hexton. A fairly nice way out via Bramfield, Datchworth, Codicote, Whitwell, along the Lilley bottom road and passing through/close to Barton Hills Nature reserve, and on to Hexton, where we were greeted by the friendly staff at Lavender tea rooms and had our fill of the great coffee/tea and cake/bacon sandwiches while enjoying the sunshine at their outdoor garden seats. Afterwards, a smooth return home via Whitewell, Crouch End, Old Knebworth, and Tewin. As usual, the leader threw in a few curveballs. total trip 46 miles approx (a bit longer than advertised— I suspect those who has been on my rides before are expecting this by now…)
