15\07\16 - Hereward The Wake 300km Audax

What a way to prepare for the Dunwich Dynamo!  Off to exhaustionland and beyond!
This started at Dunmow at 21:00 and headed northish to Writtlesey at 101km.  With a wind that was driving us along it soon turned into a fast, flat dash.  I did the first 100kms in 4 hours but was not expecting the second hundred to be less than five hours.  The sun disappeared and a monster-moon appeared but the skies soon started to lighten from about 02:30.  The second stage headed SW into the wind and the going got a bit slower in the dark, and poorer quality roads.  Got to the M1 services at Newport Pagnell (186kms) at about 06:00.  Then the final chunk via Biggleswade and Reed to Dunmow (309kms) at 12:15.  It wasn't cold, nor wet, and it gave me a good insight into the expected conditions for the Dunwich Dynamo on Saturday night although I could've done with a longer than two hours sleep on Saturday afternoon.  PW.
