The weather forecast was clear: a blanket of rain would cover the whole ride. We set off discussing contingency plans to cut short when the heavens opened. But they didn’t.

There was very little wind, the course rolling rather than hilly, and it wasn’t too cold.  When there was a little rain the absence of wind blowing it on our faces meant that we hardly noticed it.

Bretts was excellent as usual: quick service, well cooked food, decent coffee. So we had a very good morning out where nothing bad happened.
