Category 6 ride led by Tony Dos Santos

Today was my first lead ride back from having a bad back. It was listed as the “Magical Easter Ride”, obviously because it was Easter Day. I assume by the number of riders that turned up, they thought it would be a chocolate egg hunt. It wasn’t.

As I rode into Allenbury's, there were Lee Mason, Danny North and Danny Hood. I haven’t seen them in ages, and obviously the lure of chocolate had enticed them. When they asked me where we were going, I said that’s the magic of the ride. It was nice to meet Mark Rider. The usual suspects turned up, obviously the Kelleways were out in full force! David Smith turned up, just in time; he had clearly forgotten to put the clocks forward.

We set off at nine on the dot - I’d surprised everyone and ridden off. The peloton was chasing me down and caught me pretty quickly.
We went up “the hill” and Ermine Street, then turned left into to by Old Hall Green. Having got to the end of the road, who was waiting for us, yes, none other than Daniel Horn, on the fake Bianchi. We were now fourteen and there were three Dannys on the ride.
All was going well - everyone was having a nice ride. Nothing happened at all, not even a slipped chain. Amazing eh! Yes I’m bulking out the report, lol.

We rode passed “Kev’s” house at Dane End. He wasn’t out today, so I thought I’d give him a mention. Carolyn suggested me that we go up Sacombe Hill. Obviously I declined that offer. A nice drop down to the Ware Road (A602 (bulking the report)) and there wasn’t much smush on the path. We got to Chapmore End and everyone said their devices were telling them to go right, but, as it was the magical mystery tour, we turned left and dropped down to Wadesmill Road (B158) then onto Anchor Lane. The ride was nearly over. Only one last hill to traverse and we were back. We got to the bus stop and the hill had been conquered. We dropped down into Ware and that was it. The shortest ride I’ve ever led was over. Seventeen miles. Well, that’s what it was supposed to be, Danny and Lee made remonstrations about the length of the ride (their devices said 16.5 miles). After we tumbled around in the car park, it was decided it was one of those things. All was good.

That's it. My shortest ride, and the most boring ride report I’ve ever written. Note to self - Must try harder, Tony.
Obviously, written on the throne.
Over and out.  Happy Easter and I hope you get shed loads of eggs (not the boiled ones)
Over and out again.
