The longer runs put nobody off. Sixteen met at Much Hadham for a trip to Blackmore whilst twenty met at Ware with seventeen opting for the "easy" to Gt Bardfield and three opting for the unled quicker tour.
Mike - Seventeen departed from St Mary Magdelene Church in Harlow, (probably leaving the local parishioners in a quandary about the shortage of parking for their 11am service). Actually quite a few had ridden to the start, impressively clocking serious mileage for the day. The group encountered two mechanicals and one wrong turn before arriving at the Blue Egg. It was closer to lunch time rather than mid morning so most went for carbos, which are served in plentiful helpings. The rain threatened but was successfully dodged. Back at 3 pm. Special prize to Wendy who rode on a bike that was heavier than herself.
It was an overcast day with a lot of promise for rain of which none really materialised. On the ledmeds, such was the headwind on the outward bound journey that any small shower soon dried off - and there was only one puncture!. Over the two led rides many clocked over 70 miles putting all within easy range of the upcoming Club Audaxes with the 100km (now) looking easy peasy and many may opt for the challenge of their first 100miler. Should be a good turnout for that.
