Fête du Velo at Rebourn - 17th August
21 Aug 14
Paul Stewart too part in the Fête du Velo at Redbourn organised by "The Hub" café. Here is his report:
Work in the morning put pay to a club ride on the 17th s o the decision was made to go to this years Fê te du Velo at Rebourn.
A fter work I and my pit crew (wife Tracey) headed to Redbourn. When we arrived we found that the village green had stalls with all sorts of cycling stuff for sale, a live band and lots of food on offer. After booking in for the race we took a walk round the stalls, (always leave your card behind when going to these things).
At about 16.50 we were allowed to ride the track so we had idea were to go. This was to be a CAT 2,3,4 race so there were some very good riders taking part. At the start the fast riders were away and gone with the 2nd group with myself in it trying to hang on. As Sunday was very windy it caused splits thoughout the field of about 35 riders. Though out of the race I stayed with this group, only just starting to lose touch at the last. A check of the results brought a very pleasant surprise when I found that I had finished in 16th and 2nd of the CAT 4’s.
I would recommend this event to all members as a great day out. Maybe a club ride next year?
