Social Events
Social events are organised throughout the year. These may have a cycling theme: visits to races; talks by cycling experts; bike maintenance demonstrations and so on, or may be purely social: curry nights; concerts; etc. Talks and demonstrations generally take place at the Allenburys Sports and Social Club, Priory St, Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 0DJ where a licenced bar is available. Members meet there on the second Thursday of every month.
Recently a tradition has been established of long-weekends in France at the end of May. Venues have been easily accessible by ferry and have included participation in a locally organised randonnée . This year the trip was to Boulogne which offered a wealth of attractive roads for cycling and a plentiful choice of good restaurants!
On a Sunday in early December we have our Christmas Dinner and Prize Presentation which in recent years has been at the White Horse in Hertingfordbury. This is an excellent opportunity to not only socialise with fellow Club members but also to bring along spouses, friends and guests from other clubs.
There is also a regular programme of club runs on Sundays and, in the summer, on Wednesday evenings.
