Wheelers' 100k pre-Audax Audax
Wheelers' 100k pre-Audax Audax
31 May 16
The day started off with a stiff breeze and dark clouds but that didn’t put off the people who wanted to do our 100k Audax so...
8 wheelers set off from Allenburys at 09:30 heading through Ware, Hertford, north around Stevenage then east through Barkway before looping around via Lower Langley towards Puckeridge and back home to Ware.
There was no mechanicals or flat tyres (unlike the 200k riders) apart from Barry page falling off his bike when his chain came off and he couldn’t unclip his shoes fast enough. Thankfully no harm was done to neither rider or bike.
Along the way Tim Townsend left us for a quicker route home as he had to get back early and we lost Steve Godfrey after his chain came off. We all waited at the end of the road for him but he turned off before the junction. We tried to find him but he was nowhere to be seen. Fortunately we caught up with him back at Allenburys.
Everyone who rode the 100k audax said they enjoyed the route and completed it in just over 5 hours
