Come and Try Ride - 3rd August

Just three “new” recruits to accompany JRVP for a gentle ride on yet another fine afternoon in this amazing English Summer. Traditional routes out and back, ie. via Fanhams Common to Babbs Green, Kettle Green, Much Hadham, Wellpond Green, Horse Cross and the Braughing village hall for home-made cake and tea.
The return took in Puckeridge, Standon including a careful ride through the lane past the rock festival (agreed by stewards but the road was officially closed for the whole weekend!) to Barwick, Rush Green, Cold Christmas and Thundridge back to Ware. Peter and Liz Walton joined us by car at Braughing for tea, Peter already having had a strenuous riding weekend.
Sad to report yet two more pubs en route have been closed and are being “re-furbished”: the Old Crown at Much Hadham (new house) and the Kick and Dicky at Wellpond Green.
Two points for JRVP. The recruits were Tom from Ware, Mark and Bill from Hertford. We have seen Tom and Mark before. All three will come along more often now they have discovered the delights of the hidden Hertfordshire lanes.
