Cat 5 run led by John F
The first day of British Summertime turned out to be wet and windy with only 3 members setting out from Ware to be joined shortly by Barry who had no takers for his Cat 3 ride. Outward through Wareside, Bakers End, where Barry turned for home. By Much Hadham the rain was easing off and the tail wind helped us along through Little Hadham, Albury, Furneux Pelham, Stocking Pelham, Washall Green where our turn to the west put us full on into the wind up to Brent Pelham. The hedgerows through Meesden and Anstey gave us some shelter but the climb from Cave Gate through Wyddial to Buntingford proved to be a real struggle. After food and drinks at the Coffee Shop a windswept and occasionally wet return through Aspenden, Westmill, Great Munden, Colliers End, Barwick back to Ware. 41 miles.
Cat 6 run led by Danny N
Despite the wind and rain, 6 hardened cat 6 cyclists including Judith, a “come and trier” met in Hertford for a magical mystery tour. With "banter" in full flow, the route headed south across the A414 to venture in to deepest south-eastern Hertfordshire.
The first mechanical was a display in “how not to” change a tyre and was unfortunately lead by me! The 2nd included my rear mud guard, but with some good boy-scout work and some cable ties from Danny H, we were soon on our way again.
The service in the Café was quick and reasonably priced and after being sufficiently fuelled, we made our way back with the increasing wind following behind us!
