"Little Lumpy" 100 mile Charity Sportive - 15th May 2016
16 May 16
This was described as a ride "through the back roads of Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire to the South Downs". That was a pretty fair description, though "Little Lumpy" was a bit of an understatement - only about 20 miles came anywhere close to being flat. The event was run in support of the Haslemere Citizens Advice Centre.
The ride was well-organised with well-run feed stops serving home-made cake. The scenery was glorious with big, wide vistas. The weather was generally good, though occasionally chilly when the sun departed.
I was pretty pleased with my time of 4:03:35 for a very hilly 100 miles. Unfortunately the automated text message informing me of that finish time arrived when I had completed only about 60 miles! In the end I finished in about 7:45. Tough at times, especially the final two crazy climbs, but an enjoyable day.
