Category 3 ride led by Barry Page
On the best club run Sunday of the year, 10 riders set off in search of cakes and a suntan. After 5 miles we left one rider to make his own way home due to a tyre bulge - we were far away when the explosion made his day worse! However he did manage a free breakfast .........l'll say no more! We rode through Epping and Fiddlers Hamlet and up to Toot Hill, crossing the A414, on through Moreton to White Roding and to our stop at Cammas Hall fruit farm. We lost our fastest rider on the way. The return was via Sheering, Sawbridgeworth and Much Hadham. 50 miles.
Category 6 ride led by Danny Hood
Thank God for the sunshine. It nearly managed, but only nearly, to lift the dark clouds of doom that the day before had appeared on the non evil side of North London. Putting that aside, it was a good turn out for today's ride to either of two destinations. The group, although given a choice, decided to leave it to yours truly to make the decision. So off to Buntingford we headed. Peter W, having done a short ride the day before, (probably about 200 miles knowing him) left us en route and headed back home. Franco punctured just short of the café, but as usual had it fixed in double quick time and joined us for coffee and cake five minutes later. Back to base, with only one accident that involved someone's mobile phone falling off their bike. Lucky for him another eagle eyed member spotted it and returned to him further up the road.
A great ride of 30 to 35 miles, I estimate, although according to Marcia's Strava it was probably about 20.
