Category 6 ride led by Danny Hood
After expecting some sunshine for today's ride, it was disappointing to wake up to the sound of rain. I was amazed to be met at the start by none other than the bionic man himself, Franco Fiorentini. Not fully up for the club ride but back on his bike and making a great recovery.
It was great to have another of our regular riders back today. It's been a long time Kev, hope to see you again next week, mate. It's a short ride back next week too.
The Mocha café provided their usual good food at bargain prices and as the sun had decided to show its face we chose to sit outside and top up the tans.
The return leg was probably the fastest ever on a cat six, with only six of us and a tail wind we made good speed home. A smidgen under 35 miles and an average speed of 13.8mph.
After missing the last few weeks it was good to get back on the bike and catch up with friends again. (But that's done now, and I wanna be back on holiday).
Category 5 ride led by John Farnham
A group of 10 Wheelers comprising eight solos and one tandem assembled at Much Hadham on a warm and breezy day for our ride to the popular Booking Hall café at Rayne. A lanes route took us out through Spellbrook, where we got caught yet again at the level crossing. After the passing of three trains we were finally on our way again through Hatfield Forest, Hellmans Cross, High Roding, Onslow Green and Felsted to Rayne, where we were greeted by long time Wheelers member, Bill Chastell, who had travelled out from Broxbourne via a combination of train and bus. Return via a similar route but with a few variations just to keep the participants guessing as to where we really were at any one point in time. 55 miles. No punctures, no tumbles and only one slight gear related mechanical.
