Category 6 ride led by Ian Bailey

Whitehill Golf Club was chosen because at least two of the riders had afternoon commitments, and so, if necessary, could abort early and get back to Ware. There was a perfectly good route in the route library, but the ride leader decided it didn’t take us up enough hills, so added in a climb of Hoe Lane and another to the top of Hertford Heath. As a result, he frequently found himself having to catch up after each climb. And as there is a steep climb just before the cafe, he found himself circling the car park searching for the entrance.

One all were inside the golf club cafe, it turned out to be an excellent choice. Staff were welcoming and friendly and there was a decent selection of hot food.  Particularly impressive was the innovative breakfast bap, containing not just egg, bacon and sausage but also a hash brown.

Due to the aforementioned commitments, all agreed to cut short the rest of the ride and we rolled contentedly back to Ware with time in hand.
