Wheelers' Redbridge Fun Day
Wheelers' Redbridge Fun Day
10 Jul 17
Around 20 Wheelers gathered at Hog Hill for a dedicated session of riding, eating and chat. Mark and Leigh had been there from early in the day setting up the BBQ. The rest arrived around mid-day - 11 having ridden out from Hoddesdon. Ian was well established by then and doing a good trade in discounted Club kit. Stort Valley cycles had set up their tent and were offering service to all-comers.
After we had taken on plenty of fuel the competitions began with the free-wheeling championship. Most competitors wobbled to a halt at the third bend but three, Paul, Gareth and Mark, made it round the bend and onto a gentle down-hill stretch with a tail-wind. Off they sailed into the distance with Paul, lying flat on his cross tube, just beating the others.
Gareth, Marcia and Bri then organised a five-lap TT - a testing event on the hilly Hog Hill circuit. Gareth came out on top - a just reward for his 9 hour drive from Scotland to make it to the event.

The turn-out was a bit disappointing. Those who weren't there missed a great day out. Huge thanks to Mark for organising the event and to Leigh, Marcia, Gareth and Bri for making things happen on the day. Thanks to to Stort Valley Cycles for supporting the event and providing such a valuable service.
