    The usual crew gathered, although there were more this week on the unled ride. The excitable, yet dim-witted Paola Fisch would have forecasted well, for it was indeed "scorchio, scorchio, scorchio....". However, there were no melting roads, just one puncture to deal with. Fifteen on the led ride picked their way to Allen's Green and back at a pace above that advertised, though none were left behind.

    Wednesday was Midsummer's Day, so what better way to celebrate than with a ride from Ware. Twenty turned up, four going off to discover the meaning of life, while sixteen ducked, bobbed and wove their way around the lanes to Westmill near Buntingford and back. One puncture over the 25 miles.

    Final evening ride before the summer solstice - next week the glass-half-empty brigade will be full of "woe, woe and thrice woe, the nights are drawing in". Not that there were extra photons of light around this week, as the sky remained distinctly grey and rain threatened, but never arrived. Fourteen, later thirteeen, headed to Ardeley via Bennington, then back via Whitehill. On reaching the old A10, the tight formation broke as individuals sped home for repast and bed. 27 miles.

  • 100 Wheelers, friends and family enjoyed a BBQ fun and games at Allenburys S&SC.

    Thirteen riders morphed into a single ride, a category 5/6 ride to Mocca Cafe at Bishops Stortford. A mechanical stalled progress on the outward leg. Food intake was more modest than usual at the stopping point, as some were mindful of the sausages and burgers available at Allenbury's later in the day. A couple chose their own route home. The remainder wheeled into Allenbury's in good time for the meat fest. 39 miles.
